CALC Jamaica 2024

The Commonwealth Association of Legislation Counsel’s celebration of its 40th year concludes with a long overdue return to the Americas region.   Following hugely successful regional events held throughout 2023 in Europe, the Asia-Pacific and Africa, the next full CALC Conference is taking place at the Ocean Eden Bay Resort, Trelawny, Jamaica, from Monday 13 to Wednesday 15 May 2024.

Everyone in the in the ilegis community with an interest in legislative drafting is invited and encouraged to participate in a conference that will provide 3 days of learning, collaboration and networking opportunities with colleagues from across the Commonwealth and beyond.  

A call for papers remains open until 15 March under the Conference theme of “CALC at 40 - common challenges past, present and future”. The developing agenda already features presentations, panel discussions and workshops on the role of legislative counsel, legislative quality controls, and using AI and modern technology to enhance the capability and productivity of legislative drafting offices.

With a Gala dinner and optional social excursions being planned, the Conference will be a great opportunity to forge strong bonds with legislative colleagues while experiencing vibrant Jamaican culture, breathtaking beaches, and the irresistible flavours of the local cuisine.
